Recovery Coach Academy

Program Outline
The CCAR Recovery Coach AcademyĀ© is a 30 CEU 4-day intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor, and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The CCAR Recovery Coach AcademyĀ© prepares participants by helping them actively listen, ask good questions, and discover and manage their own stuff.

Participants will:
ā€¢ Describe the Recovery Coach's role and functions
ā€¢ List the components, core values, and guiding principles of recovery ā€¢ Build skills to enhance relationships
ā€¢ Explore many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching
ā€¢ Discover attitudes about self-disclosure and sharing your story
ā€¢ Understand the stages of recovery
ā€¢ Describe the stages of change and their applications
ā€¢ Increase their awareness of culture, power, and privilege
ā€¢ Address ethical and boundary issues
ā€¢ Experience recovery wellness planning
ā€¢ Practice newly acquired skills

Who can be a recovery coach?
ā€¢ Credentialed addiction professionals
ā€¢ Treatment center support staff, volunteers, and alumni
ā€¢ Staff from behavioral health and government agencies
ā€¢ Representative from inpatient and outpatient centers and sober livingĀ homes
ā€¢ Individuals, family members, and advocates of recovery
